Cover is the popular Android lock screen replacement which has just released an update to version 0.1.8 which brings along with it the music controls. For devices which run , the all-new feature will allow you to take control of your Pandora, Rdio Spotify or Sonos audio without the need to unlock your device. Working with nearly every music application available, Cover will recognize when audio is playing and then will pin the icon for the application to the bottom of the screen.
Next to the icon are the controls for skipping songs both backward and forward, as well as a pause button and on the right side you will find the album art.

Cover is a smart lock screen that gives you the right applications at the right time. It replaces the factory lock screen which comes with your phone and includes features like peek, fast application switching and smart settings.
Four Key Features
1) The right apps at the correct time: whether you are at home, work or in your car, Cover learns which apps you use and puts them at your fingertips.
3) Switch between applications: jump directly between apps, skipping the steps in between with Cover's app tray.
4) Smart settings: sets different ringer volumes and wallpapers for each place.
To make use of the new feature you will first need to update the app and then activate this feature. The activation is quite simple and from the settings you will look for the Music Controls addition and then grant permission to Notification access.
How It Works
How It Works
Cover has different modes for home, work, driving and outside. Each one comes with a set of apps arranged along the left side of the lock screen, which is what you will see when you turn on your device (situations can be manually switched). The wallpaper is customized based on the situation. If you have ever used the Aviate launcher for Android, Cover is kind of the same idea on the lock screen. If you are at home during the evening at rest, maybe Cover shows you Netflix, YouTube, and Flip board. During work it shows Drive, LinkedIn, and Gmail.
Unfortunately, Cover has yet to be able to implement support for Android 4.1 - 4.3 version devices as there is no standard way to access the music that is being played in those versions, so to keep the experience fresh as possible they are keeping it KitKat-exclusive for now.
If you are currently using Cover, be sure to update today and activate the music controls.
